Madagascar Cichlids are still classified as african cichlids and come from, you guessed it, the massive island nation of Madagascar off the east coast of Africa. All wildlife there is under threat from habitat destruction, deforestation, and growing human population pressures.  Also adding to the demise of native cichlid/fish species is the introduction non-native food fish species.
